What is Early Intervention?
Early Intervention is a public program that supports infants and toddlers under age 3 who may have developmental delays or diagnosed conditions that affect their development.
Services are designed to help children build important skills during the earliest years of growth, while also giving families the guidance and support they need. If a child is found eligible, a service plan is created based on the child’s specific needs and goals.
Early Intervention services are often provided in familiar settings, such as the child’s home, daycare, or other community locations. Services authorized through the county are provided at no cost to families.
Roots to Grow is approved by New York State and contracted with New York City and all five boroughs to provide Early Intervention services, including speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, special instruction, ABA, and service coordination.
How to get started.
To refer a child under age 3 to the NYC Early Intervention Program, families can use the NYC Early Intervention Referral Portal or call 311 and ask for Early Intervention. Someone else may also help make the referral if needed.
